The Secret of the Enchanted Garden

written by Bahassi Mouhamed

Long ago, on the edge of an ancient city surrounded by towering walls, stood a magnificent palace. Behind it lay a mysterious garden that no one dared to enter. The people of the city called it **the Enchanted Garden**, believing that its gates would open only for someone with a pure heart, free from greed and hatred.

A kind princess named Layla lived in the palace. She was loved by everyone because of her generosity and compassion for the poor. Since childhood, she had heard countless stories about the magical garden, but she had never seen it. Its great stone gates had remained closed for many years.

One moonlit night, Layla awoke to a golden light shining through her window. Curious, she followed the glowing path until she reached the garden's entrance. To her surprise, the heavy gates slowly opened on their own.

Stepping inside, she found a place unlike anything she had ever imagined. Towering trees stretched toward the sky, sparkling flowers glowed like tiny stars, and colorful birds filled the air with beautiful melodies. At the heart of the garden stood a crystal-clear fountain beside a magnificent tree bearing golden fruit.

As Layla approached the tree, a gentle voice whispered,

"This garden shares its blessings only with those who use them for the good of others."

Moments later, an old wise woman appeared. She had guarded the enchanted garden for centuries.

"You have passed the first test," she said kindly. "You entered without fear or greed. But one final test remains."

She handed Layla a beautiful white flower and continued,

"Protect this flower until sunrise, and the greatest secret of the garden will be revealed to you."

Layla carefully left the garden carrying the delicate flower. Along the way, she met a young boy crying in pain from a deep wound. Without hesitation, she plucked one of the flower's glowing petals and gently placed it on his injury. Instantly, the wound healed, though the flower lost part of its beauty.

At dawn, Layla returned to the garden, convinced she had failed the test.

The old guardian smiled warmly.

"You have succeeded," she said. "Compassion is worth more than any treasure. Those who sacrifice their own gifts to help others deserve the blessings of this garden."

At that very moment, every tree burst into bloom, filling the air with a sweet fragrance that spread across the kingdom. Rivers flowed once more, the fields became green again, and prosperity returned after years of drought.

From that day on, the Enchanted Garden opened only once each year, welcoming those whose hearts were filled with kindness and whose greatest wish was to help others without expecting anything in return.

**Moral:**
*A kind heart is the true key to every treasure, and the greatest magic of all is selfless compassion.*
