The journey of the salmon fish

Written by Abou Abdellah
Since a long time ago, rivers and streams have been flowing through the High Atlas Mountains towards the Atlantic Ocean. Once, the salmon fish lived in the high seas of the ocean like other fishes. They had never dared to fresh water before.
One day, while they were swimming a long the coast, they approached the mouth of the river- where the river meet the sea. The sparkling fresh water of the river attracted their attention. They were mesmerized by the waters of the crystal river. The sun rays were falling on the river's surface, shining like pure crystal or twinkling peals.

The mysterious fish swam against the tidal current as ever seeking the twinkling pearls of water and resisted the dangers of shallow waters, where the fish appeared clearly to any hungry passer by animal. The salmon fish continued the tiring journey trying to catch a pearl for their partners as a dowry.
While swimming, suddenly, one of the salmon fish got stuck between two rocks. One of the rocks asked him: “are you fool! Why are swimming against the current, fish?; She answered confidently: “I am swimming against the flow to guaranty my continuity and to make sure that my breed will survive; She ended her arduous journey by the source of the river after a long trouble and a hard struggle.

Finally, she decided to nest and lay her eggs because she was certain that none of the predators could follow her path and prey on her offspring. And since then salmon still take the same journey and follow the same path from salt to fresh water.
